SEA and SEFI demand steel industry be continued as a strategic sector
The Steel Executive’s Federation of India (SEFI) and RINL’s Steel Executive Association have demanded that the Centre’s plan to privatise the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) be dropped and that the RINL, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Neelanchal Ispat Nigam Limited, NMDC and Mecon under the Ministry of Steel be merged to form a huge conglomerate.
Both the bodies, at a meeting in New Delhi on Monday, passed a resolution to submit a representation to the government seeking that the steel industry be continued as a strategic sector.

‘Move will synergise their strengths’
The Steel Executive’s Federation of India (SEFI) sought formation of a single maha steel unit by merging steel plants of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and its subsidiary units with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, RINL and its subsidiary company, Neelanchal Ispat Nigam Limited, NMDC (both steel plant and mining sector) and Mecon under the Ministry of Steel.
A resolution to this effect was passed by the SEFI at hits meeting in Delhi, on Sunday night. The meeting was attended by representatives of Officers Association of SAIL, Steel Executives Association of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, officers association of NINL and NMDC Steel Officers Association, according to a statement issued by SEA (Steel Executive Association), Visakhapatnam, here on Monday.

He added that if Telangana turns blind eye to the Vizag steel plant’s problem today, they would come after Telangana’s PSUs like BHEL, Singareni Collieries.

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) working party president and the state’s IT minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday extended solidarity to the ongoing agitations against the Centre’s decision to privatize the neighboring state’s Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), popularly called Vizag steel plant.
He accused that the BJP-led government “is even capable of mulling privatization of the state governments.”
