Jordan s king calls for protecting Palestinians from Israeli attacks

AMMAN, May 18 (Xinhua) King Abdullah II of Jordan on Tuesday urged the international community to protect the Palestinians and stop Israel s attacks on the Gaza Strip. During a meeting via teleconference with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi and French President Emmanuel Macron, King Abdullah stressed the need to end recurring Israeli violations and provocations, which have caused the current escalation. The king said in a statement that Jordan has intensified its efforts on all levels since the beginning of the current crisis to protect the Palestinians, stop Israeli violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque, and block Israeli attempt to expel Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem.
GAZA CITY: More than 58,000 Palestinians have been displaced by Israel’s bloody air strikes that have destroyed or badly damaged nearly 450 mainly civilian buildings in Gaza, the UN aid agency.
