Sisi Aims for New Delta Project to Ensure Food Security in Egypt

Wednesday, 7 April, 2021 - 09:30 Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi during his visit to an agriculture project in the Western Desert. (Egyptian Presidency) Cairo - Asharq Al-Awsat Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi asserted the importance of the mega national project, the New Delta, in achieving food security and providing over 200,000 various job opportunities. Sisi toured the Egypt’s Future Project located in the New Delta and extending to the Western Desert. The project’s location near Sphinx International Airport, Borg el-Arab International Airport, el-Dekheila Port and Alexandria Port facilitates the delivery of production requirements and final products. “It also contributes to making the project an attractive destination for investors,” according to a presidential statement.

Thursday, 8 April, 2021 - 10:30 Egyptian FM Sameh Shoukry during his visit to President Michel Aoun (Lebanese Presidency) Beirut- Asharq Al-Awsat Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Lebanon’s stability and security are vital for the region, emphasizing the importance of swiftly forming a Lebanese technocratic government that will carry out the required reforms and be responsible for the interest of Lebanese people. Shoukry visited Lebanon and met with a number of officials including President Michel Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri, and Prime Minister Saad Hariri. However, he did not include in his meetings the caretaker prime minister, Hassan Diab, the head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, and Hezbollah officials.
