Joel Friedman is Vice President for Federal Fiscal Policy at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), where he specializes in U.S. federal budget and tax issues, and a Senior Fellow at the International Budget Partnership (IBP), where he focuses on budget transparency and accountability in countries around the world. Prior to his work at CBPP and IBP, he worked on the Democratic staff of both the Senate and House Budget Committees (as deputy staff director and director of budget analysis, respectively), and as a financial economist at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. In addition, from 1996 to 2000, he worked in the South African Ministry of Finance as the U.S. Treasury s Resident Advisor, helping to develop and implement budget reforms with a particular focus on intergovernmental fiscal relations. He holds an M.P.A. from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and a B.A. from Pomona College.

In the summer of 2010, Nina Eichacker was an intern at the US Department of Energy, analyzing the successes and failures of energy projects that received DOE funding. She didn’t realize that a high-profile failure was brewing right under her nose, and would soon put the department’s loan program one of the government’s biggest pots of money for clean energy innovation on ice.
Ten years later, Eichacker is among the economists urging the Biden administration to revitalize the program, which is currently sitting on $44 billion in unused, Congressionally-authorized clean energy loans and loan guarantees that quietly gathered dust under Donald Trump. The question is whether the administration is willing to stomach the toxic politics that festered around the program because of one misplaced loan: Solyndra.
Yang, a former Democratic presidential candidate who outlasted governors and senators in the nominating race despite sporting a thin political resume, is again running in a crowded primary field packed with candidates with beefier governing or business experience. And he’s again dogged by concerns that he has too little know-how to be running for office in such a time of crisis.
In this race, however, Yang is an early front-runner, a distinction that provides a broader profile but also forces him to address questions about his experience more forcefully than he ever had to in his long-shot presidential bid.

Based on what occurred at the Jan. 19, council meeting, I am sounding the alarm.
Councilor Blonna nominated Larry Honig to the Planning Board while Councilor Rola nominated Ed Issler. Larry Honig s was approved; however, Councilor Blonna objected to Ed Issler because campaign newsletters were hurtful and he could not trust him.
Surely Councilor Blonna knows the reprehensible content of Larry Honig s marcopolitics.com. The fact that he denied authorship until responding to an election complaint places Councilor Blonna s character in doubt for trusting him.
Councilor Irwin cited a lawsuit threat by Ed Issler; a review of that email references a possible appeal to the state attorney. Most troubling is our city attorney concurred with this when Councilor Brabowski inquired what Councilor Irwin was basing her assertion on. Now both Councilor Irwin and the city attorney owe Issler an apology and the other councilors an explanation for their cr
