Radio Pioneers Edwin Armstrong and William Lear : TALKERS magazine – The bible of talk media

ALEXANDRIA, Va.  Although today’s listening experience tends to be dominated by streaming services, radio remains a critical foundation for disseminating sound. Radio has evolved over the past century to expand its reach and its offerings. The portable transistor radio may exist more as a relic than as an everyday item, but in its place are options like satellite radio and smartphone enabled apps that will still play your favorite stations. Historically, there was a major boom in demand for radio access following World War I and during and after World War II. Patrick Paul Rooney | News, Sports, Jobs

Patrick Paul Rooney Patrick Paul Rooney (Pat), 90, left his earthly home for Heaven in the arms of angels to be with our Lord on Sept. 9, 2020. He was at home with his family present. Pat was born in Renovo, Pa., on Sept. 5, 1930, and he was raised in Renovo and Cross Fork, Potter County, Pa. He is survived by his son Rusty, and his daughter Liz. One of Pat’s most wondrous earthly purposes was being a devoted family man of which he was always without fail loyal, constant, reliable, kind and selflessly involved with interest and compassion. He enjoyed the earth’s beauty – especially blooming flowers, and the month of October with vibrantly bursting leaf colors commonly seen in the northeast. He admired, cared for and was sensitive to the welfare of birds, deer, pets and other animal life.
