Last week, 48 Democrats voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which, if passed, would require doctors to provide medical life-saving care to babies that survive abortion. The bill needed 60 votes for passage and was first introduced by Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Nebraska) in 2015. The bill is not about abortion. It is about saving babies already born as the result of botched abortions.

Sen. Patrick Leahy, a Democrat from Vermont and the President pro tempore of the Senate, is expected to preside in the impeachment trial, according to two sources familiar with the matter, not Chief Justice John Roberts.
Senators preside when the person facing trial isn t the current president of the United States, one source said.
The United States Supreme Court isn t merely one of America s most important institutions, it is also one of the most important elements of our constitutional system of checks and balances, not to mention the gold standard of judicial independence and integrity on the planet.
