Penn State wrestling notes: Iowa match postponed due to COVID-19 issues with the Hawkeyes; U.S. Olympic Team Trials will be held elsewhere, refunds to be offered

Penn State’s Friday wrestling match opposite Iowa has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Hawkeyes program.
Both schools announced the news on Monday night. It‘s unclear when the meeting will be rescheduled, as Iowa has temporarily paused all in-person team activities.
“We are appreciative of the Iowa medical staff and respect the decision to pause activities,” Iowa coach Tim Brands said in a released statement.
”We will continue to follow Big Ten protocols and look forward to a return to training and competition.”

The Cliff Keen National Collegiate Women s Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) will be hosted by Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio on Saturday, March 6.. This will be the second annual national championships event for NCAA programs.
Each of the 10 women s college weight classes will have 16 participants, with four wrestlers advancing to the national tournament from each of four regional qualifiers. This will be the first year in which there will be a regional qualification system for the competition.

Fiesta Fridays!, a monthly event that included live music, food, games and other attractions, has been postponed for the foreseeable future, according to Nathan Benderson Park CEO Tomás Herrera-Mishler.
Herrera-Mishler said the event is too expensive to host with the limited capacity necessary to ensure social distancing. He called the postponement of the event, one of his personal favorites, an easy decision.

USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the United States, in partnership with the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and the Omaha Sports Commission today announced a revised plan and schedule for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming. The Olympic Trials will be divided into two competitions, with Wave I on June 4-7, 2021 and Wave II on June 13-20, 2021. Wave II will continue to serve as the sole qualifier for pool swimmers on the U.S. Olympic Team for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
