CO of Destroyer USS Hopper Removed from Command

The commander of a Hawaii-based guided-missile destroyer was removed from her job, the Navy announced on Wednesday.
“The commanding officer of USS
Hopper (DDG-70), Cmdr. Kathryn J. Dawley was relieved of her duties on 06 April 2021 due to a loss of confidence in her leadership,” reads a release from the service.
A Navy official told USNI News there was no misconduct associated with Dawley’s removal.
The deputy commander of Destroyer Squadron 31, Capt. Don Rauch, has taken command of
Hopper until a new replacement commander can be found, the release said.

Theodore Roosevelt Strike Group Now Operating in South China Sea

The Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group is once again operating in the South China Sea, amid a flurry of recent U.S. Navy activity in the Indo-Pacific region.
In a Tuesday news release, U.S. 7th Fleet said the CSG sailed into the South China Sea for “routine operations” on Sunday.
“Over the course of the strike group’s deployment, we have demonstrated our commitment to the rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region by operating with our friends from Australia, India, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea,” Carrier Strike Group 9 commander Rear Adm. Doug Verissimo said in the release. “We look forward to continuing to sail together with all those that embrace our collective vis
