US Virgin Islands seeks Jamaica tourism cooperation 13 hours ago
The US Virgin Islands Department of Tourism has expressed an interest in collaborating with its Caribbean neighbours on tourism-enhancing initiatives.
The initiative comes as the bread-and-butter sector in the region rebounds from the adverse impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking in the wake of a recent visit to Jamaica to meet with public and private sector stakeholders, Joseph Boschulte, US Virgin Islands commissioner of tourism, reported successful talks with Jamaica minister of tourism, Edmund Bartlett.
He also spoke with other private sector officials about the potential for regional economic revitalisation with the unleashing of pent-up tourism demand.
The U.S. Virgin Islands is interested in collaborating with its Caribbean neighbors on tourism-enhancing initiatives as the sector rebounds from the pandemic.
One of the most popular vacation destinations in the Caribbean is looking to help bolster their economic recovery by collaborating with other islands in the Caribbean. The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism announced that Commissioner of Tourism Joseph Boschulte recently underwent successful talks with Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett and other private sector officials about how the Caribbean can revitalize tourism and restart local economies after more than a year of waiting. They’re calling the collaboration a “coopetition” – a combination of cooperation and competition.

The U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism has big plans to strengthen its position as a leading Caribbean destination for marine and yacht tourism.
Speaking after last weekend s St. Thomas Yacht Club Invitational Regatta,
Joseph Boschulte, USVI Commissioner of Tourism, said the department s focus on welcoming mariners throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has returned strong dividends for the destination.
“Despite numerous pandemic-related challenges, we have leveraged the talent and creativity of our team to sharpen our focus on our incredible marine and charter yacht industry,” said
