Watch Megan Rapinoe take centre-stage in the latest Sportswoman episode on SBS from 3:00pm (AEDT) this Sunday, March 21.
Rapinoe and her USWNT teammates have been engaged in an equal pay dispute with the US Soccer Federation since March 2019, having filed a lawsuit prior to their FIFA Women’s World Cup victory in France.
Both parties settled on an unequal working condition claim outside of court in December last year, which has since allowed players to appeal wage discrimination claims under the Equal Pay Act.
Such off-field affairs would normally make representing the federation a little conflicting, but for Rapinoe, it doesn’t even cross her mind.
United States midfielder Christian Pulisic (10) moves the ball past Jamaica defender Michael Hector (3) during a Concacaf Gold Cup semifinal football match on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, in Nashville, Tenn. The United States won 3-1.
The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has cancelled its locally based 15-man training camp for the exhibition match against the 22nd-ranked USA on March 25 at Wiener Neustadt, Austria.
The JFF had received permission from the government to host the training camp at the UWI-JFF Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence. However, just 24 hours after the training camp began, the JFF said it had to cancel those plans in order to get players to the Austrian Embassy in Washington DC to process their visas.

When she steps onto the pitch, representing the United States women s national team carries a larger meaning for Megan Rapinoe.
Rapinoe explained on ESPN s
SportsNation how the equal-pay lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation is often on her mind while she suits up for the USWNT: I would much rather be spending my time doing absolutely anything else other than fighting the federation all the time for something I feel like I deserve, but that is part of it. For me, when I pull on the shirt, I m not thinking about the federation. I see them [U.S. Soccer executives] pulling up to the game and I think: That s cute, that s nice. I feel like I pull on this shirt for equal pay and for the fans and for kids who want to be in my position. So that never feels in conflict.
