First direct flight between Morocco, Israel lands in Rabat 2 minutes read
Rabat, Dec 22 (efe-epa).- The first direct commercial flight between Morocco and Israel since the two countries normalized relations landed in Rabat from Tel Aviv on Tuesday with an Israeli-American delegation led by Jared Kushner, son-in-law and advisor to outgoing US president Donald Trump.
The flight follows the agreement on the restoration of bilateral ties between Morocco and Israel announced on 10 December.
The US delegation includes the US envoy for the Middle East, Avi Berkowitz, and Adam Boehler, the executive head of the US International Development Finance Corporation.
The Israeli delegation is headed by National Security Advisor Meir Ben Shabbat, and with him are representatives of the Israeli Ministries of Health, Tourism and Economy and Finance.

“The peace agreements that we have made are planted seeds that will sustain life and bear fruit if tended to correctly,” said Jared Kushner, senior advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump.
Kushner said that Jerusalem is not a source of division, but rather the key to peace in the Middle East, at a tree-planting ceremony at the Grove of Nations in Jerusalem on Monday.

Safaricom group taps Sh55bn loan for Ethiopia entry

Summary
Safaricom and its parent companies Vodafone Group Plc and Vodacom Group Limited have formed a joint venture – Global Partnership for Ethiopia through which they are bidding for one of two telecommunications licences being auctioned in that country.
The financial investment in Ethiopia is expected to top the $1 billion (Sh111 billion) mark, with the DFC loan deal seen as part of the project’s fundraising efforts.
Safaricom had earlier said it was ready to take more debt in its role as the majority shareholder of the consortium with a 51 percent stake.
