Print NORWEGIAN AMERICAN LATEST SAFETY NET TO GET A NEW NAME: Norwegian American Hospital is the latest Chicago safety net to adopt a new name as the hospital industry evolves beyond inpatient care. The 200-bed hospital will be renamed Humboldt Park Health to better reflect the majority Puerto Rican and Mexican community it serves and will focus on building relationships beyond the hospital walls. The rebranding effort follows last month’s renaming of safety net Sinai Health System to Sinai Chicago, which has launched a $40 million outpatient center across the street from Mount Sinai Hospital. (iStock) The number of adults going back to college to obtain higher education amid the coronavirus pandemic decreased in 2020 as many people faced unemployment, salary reductions and a lack of childcare options. The number of people enrolled at community colleges declined almost by 10% in 2020, according to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center. During previous economic downturns, many people went back to college to obtain another degree. Community colleges reported higher enrollment from 2006 to 2011, the period that includes the Great Recession of 2008. Two-year college enrollment at community colleges rose by 33% nationally, based on a 2018 U.S. Census report.
