Law360 (April 20, 2021, 5:40 PM EDT) The U.S. Department of Energy on Tuesday revoked a Trump-era order blocking the use of electrical equipment from China and other countries deemed to be potential national security risks as it launched an initiative to bolster grid security and secure energy supply chains.
The DOE order, issued in the final days of the Trump administration, had barred the acquisition, importation, transfer or installation of bulk power system equipment from countries that pose a national security risk, and specifically mentioned China. The agency s actions were authorized by a May executive order from President Donald Trump that declared a national emergency over potential.
