A lawsuit filed against the Trump administration seeks to keep protections for the American burying beetle

The Center for Biological Diversity plans to bring a lawsuit against the Trump administration for downlisting the American burying beetle, which has a population on Nantucket, under the Endangered Species Act.  The nonprofit sent the U.S. Department of the Interior a 60-day notice on Tuesday that it intended to sue in federal court for violations of the Endangered Species Act.  “Without the protections that accompany the ESA’s endangered status, the American burying beetle will soon join the multitude of species driven to extinction by humans,” the center wrote in the notice to the secretary of the Interior.  The black-and-orange wine-cork-sized beetle has been on the Endangered Species list since 1989. Although the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has said that climate change could wipe out wide swaths of the insect within 20 years, the service changed its listing from “endangered” to threatened

Climate-smart trees take root in northeast Minnesota

We’ll need a forest for that,” said Joel Bransky, an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer with the University of Minnesota Extension Northeast Regional Sustainable Development Partnership (Northeast RSDP). OtterFox faceBison Video clips from @YellowstoneNPS #Wyoming #Montana #Idaho I m going with the bison personally. It s big, powerful and can move with a lot of speed if it s needed to.
