PROGRAM DESCRIPTION The U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to share U.S. best practices in transparency mechanisms offered to civil society organizations. Please follow all instructions below.  Program Objectives:   In 2019 the Dominican Republic was ranked 137/180 in the Corruption Perception Index. This index ranks countries and territories based on how corrupt their public sector is perceived to be. At the same time, in the Global Corruption Barometer 66% of people in the Dominican Republic thought corruption increased in the previous 12 months.

Even though the Consular Section of the US Embassy remains closed for routine services, we frequently receive questions on who to contact for specific questions and situations. We hope the following resources may be of help: Visa applicants with emergency cases may write to support-dominicanrepublic@ustraveldocs.com or call 1-829-956-5144 U.S. lawful permanent residents whose green cards have been lost, stolen, or damaged, and who have an urgent need to travel to the US may contact santodomingoconsbf@state.gov. Likewise, U.S. lawful permanent residents who have an approved 1-131 and have received notification from USCIS that their re-entry permit has been sent to Santo Domingo may contact the aforementioned address to request an appointment to pick up their document.

Effective January 26, 2021 all airline passengers to the United States ages two years and older must provide a negative COVID-19 test. The test must be viral (PCR or antigen) and taken within three calendar days of travel,  to determine if the passenger has an active COVID-19 infection. The results must be presented to the airline in an electronic or paper format. Alternatively, travelers to the U.S. may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel. If the passenger does not meet these requirements or chooses not to take the test, the airline will deny access to the aircraft. It is recommended that passengers traveling to the United States monitor the CDC official website and follow their recommendations on quarantine and local and state requirements related to travel.
