NSW Health says two new cases of COVID-19 have emerged in Sydney s northern beaches.
Authorities said the source of these new infections was under investigation but they had not identified any links to other known cases so far.
The cases are a woman in her 60s and a man in his 70s who are close contacts of each other.
Officials are undertaking contact tracing and expect genome sequencing results in the next 24 to 48 hours.
The two people visited a number of venues in Palm Beach and Avalon while they were infectious and anyone who attended the venues is considered a close contact - they must get a COVID-19 test and isolate for 14 days, even if the test comes back negative.
