(WTVF) — A man was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in his 9-month-old son s overdose death. In October 2019, 9-month-old Kayden Goldthreate overdosed on fentanyl, according to Metro Nashville Police. And on Thursday, a grand jury indicted his father, 36-year-old Phuoc Tommy Nguyen, on the charges Police found that Nguyen was a heroin user and that the child ingested heroin/fentanyl while in his custody at a residence on Willow Branch Drive. Doctors at Monroe Carell Jr. Children s Hospital at Vanderbilt also found Kayden to be suffering from head injuries. An autopsy determined Kayden’s cause of death to be acute fentanyl toxicity.

NORRISTOWN — A Philadelphia man accused of fatally shooting a Norristown man faces a trial in Montgomery County Court. Gerard Gethers, 29, of the 400 block of West Wellens Street in Philadelphia, was ordered to stand trial, after a preliminary hearing before District Court Judge Gregory Scott, on charges of first- and third-degree murder, person not to possess a firearm, possessing an instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person in connection with the alleged Nov. 3 fatal shooting of Jerry “Spider” White in Norristown. Gethers will remain in the county jail without bail while awaiting his formal arraignment on the charges in county court.
