Suspect charged with arson, burglary at Somersworth home
SOMERSWORTH A man is facing arson and other charges following a fire on Tate’s Brook Road.
Somersworth police announced Monday they’ve charged Darien J. Young, 27, who has no fixed address, with Class A felony arson, Class A felony burglary and felony-level possession of methamphetamine following an investigation into the Jan. 19 fire at a single-family home at 28 Tate’s Brook Road.
“An investigation was initiated and it was determined that the fire was intentionally set and that various items had been stolen from the residence,” Capt. Tim McLin wrote in a release Monday afternoon.

BATON ROUGE - Nearly two years after a man was gunned down while trying to stop someone from stealing his car, the suspected gunman is now facing charges.
Bobby Earl, 31, was arrested Thursday and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the charge of second-degree murder.
Earl was allegedly attempting to steal the car of Everette Williams, 28, at the time of the shooting in February 2019. When Williams tried to intervene, Earl allegedly shot him.

The U.S. Marshal’s Task Force have arrested a man wanted for Murder in Montgomery. Pierre Woods, 27, is now in police custody.
Woods faces Murder charges for the death of 27-year-old Joshua Thompson. Police say they found Thompson’s body on November 5, 2020 near U.S. Highway 31 at the Alabama River bridge. Police determined he died from a gunshot wound.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Woods on Tuesday, January 19. Woods was taken into custody at a home in the 2700 block of Massachusetts Avenue without incident.

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Nine men in San Diego County are facing felony charges stemming from a statewide unemployment fraud scandal among California prison and jail inmates, the District Attorney s Office announced Thursday.
The defendants, who allegedly committed the fraud between June and September of last year, were assigned to the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) in San Diego that allows qualified state prison inmates to serve the final months of their sentences in a halfway house setting.
The San Diego County DA s office alleges the inmates lied on application forms to the Employment Development Department and violated state prison rules regarding applying for public aid, fraudulently collecting a total of $166,132 in EDD funds.
