Erie police detectives have filed criminal charges against nine men in weekend stabbings and assaults inside a crowded downtown nightclub that seriously injured two people.
Seven of the nine suspects in the April 17 attack at Rockstarz Night Club, 1015 State St., were taken into custody on Friday morning as members of the Erie Bureau of Police SWAT Team, detectives in the bureau s Major Crimes Unit and members of the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force fanned out across the city armed with arrest warrants.
Police did not release the names of the suspects, and the cases against all nine remain under seal, Deputy Chief Rick Lorah said.

U.S. Marshals on Wednesday arrested a man wanted on charges of selling drugs that resulted in an overdose death in Washington County, officials said.
Sherman Springer, known as “Detroit Shawn,” 48, had been on the run as a fugitive for more than seven months, since he was charged in late June in connection to the death of another person on April 15 in the city of Washington, court records show. He now is being held on $150,000 bail at Washington County Prison.
Officials did not disclose the name of the person who died after taking narcotics sold by Springer.

An Erie-based task force made up of federal, state, and local law enforcement nabbed more than 200 fugitives in 2020, its members reported on Tuesday.
The U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force apprehended 202 felony fugitives last year, clearing a total of 223 outstanding felony arrest warrants. Of those apprehended, 70 were wanted by the Erie Bureau of Police, Deputy U.S. Marshal Chad Sensor said.
The task force also seized 10 firearms in 2020, according to Sensor.
Members of the task force apprehended 207 felony fugitives and cleared 215 felony warrants in 2019, and apprehended 200 fugitives and cleared 247 warrants in 2018, according to information the group released previously.
