A New Partnership Is Formed Here In South County
A major announcement:
Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation is teaming up with Essex County Community Foundation as they are presenting the 2021 Institute for Trustees, an annual conference that invites non-profit leaders to gather together for educational workshops and future networking opportunities.
This partnership was built on the success of The Board Leadership Forum that was formed back in 2018 which was designed for board leaders and executive directors as this event will feature 24 virtual workshops from leading non-profit organizations as they bring opportunities to connect with hundreds of peers equally committed to the leadership roles.
Ambulance Association names Finegold legislator of year
The Massachusetts Ambulance Association has recognized state Sen. Barry Finegold, D-Andover, as the 2020 Legislator of the Year. Association President Dennis Cataldo and the Board of Directors lauded Finegoldâs crucial support of non-public ambulance services in this year s state budget.
Finegold worked on a Medicaid-matching program for ambulance companies providing critical services during COVID-19, which was instrumental in helping those companies recoup costs.
âThis year, itâs all of you and your teams who should be recognized for risking your own health to protect our communities, Finegold said. We have asked more and more of our EMS personnel, and they have bravely continued to show up for work each day in the face of this pandemic. It is the least I can do to make sure ambulance providers have the resources necessary to respond to COVID-19 in an aggressive manner.â

The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission is looking at how COVID-19 is impacting businesses and internet usage.
Nate Robertson, a planner with the Haverhill-based agency, is working with the Essex County Community Foundation. He says the pandemic has forced more businesses to rely on the internet, but some need added help.
“We’ll be setting up our Small Business Technical Assistance Program over the next month or two, and in that process we’re going to be reaching out to small businesses about what their needs are, and then the goal is to pair them up with technical assistance advisors that can help them with that need,” he says.

Over the next four months, Essex County Community Foundation, which serves the 34 cities and towns of Essex County, will distribute $1.2 million to select area nonprofits serving and supporting those most vulnerable to the devastating effects of the pandemic.
This new wave of COVID aid comes from the Baker-Polito Administration’s $10 million Community Foundations Grant Program for COVID-19 Relief. Announced in late November, the program is administered by the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and the Department of Housing and Community Development through community foundations across the state.
“Like other Massachusetts community foundations, ECCF has developed a deep knowledge of and trusted relationships with the nonprofits in our service area and is therefore in a unique position to deliver state funds locally,” said Foundation President and CEO Beth Francis, who also serves as the co-chair of the new Massachusetts Community Foundation
