Nearly 170 people joined a virtual court hearing for Ernst “Shimmy” Jean-Jacques, the Black Lives Matter protester arrested at a rally in Swampscott and charged with hitting an elderly Trump supporter. Jean-Jacques’ supporters hoped the case would be thrown out, but it was continued until March 29. “We’re extremely disappointed that the decision to drop the charges was not made today,” said Swampscott Keiko Zoll, one of dozens of residents supporting Jean-Jacques. A civil rights activist honored by the Red Sox, Jean-Jacques joined BLM supporters at a Trump rally in December when Linda Greenberg, 80, admitted throwing water at him claiming he was dancing too close to her.
