For the fifth-straight week, Essex has registered more new cases of COVID-19 than the week before. For the period of March 4-10, the town is listed by the Vermont Department of Health as having 38 new cases documented that being the most since the week ending Jan. 20.
Essex has averaged 29 new cases per week since mid-November. In the latest town-by-town report, it had the second-most new cases in Chittenden County and accounted for 17.6% of the countyâs new cases in the week that being over the 11.9% Essex has accounted for in Chittenden Countyâs total since the state started recording data last March.

New cases of COVID-19 in the Town of Essex were relatively lower for a second-straight week with only 15 being reported for the period of Feb. 4-10.
Of the 152 new cases in Chittenden County for that stretch, Essex accounted for 9.9% of them that being lower than the 11.7% of total cases in the county the town has accounted for since the pandemic began.
Only seven deaths from COVID-19 were recorded in Vermont between Feb. 4-10 with just two being reported for Chittenden County between Jan. 29 Feb. 11.

Drinkers can pick up a can of Bernie s Smitten Mittens, a stout made by Four Quarters Brewing in Winooski, Vermont.
The can has been produced just in time for Valentine s Day, this Sunday.

Bernie s Smitten Mittens is a warming, maple s mores stout with maple syrup, milk sugar, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, graham cracker and marshmallow, according to the brewers.
It was inspired after the senator s special gloves went viral following his appearance at the January 20th inauguration.
