2 workers found dead in storage room at Irondale car dealership

Two contract workers were found dead Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at EchoPark Automotive in Irondale. There were no obvious signs of foul play.

An investigation is underway after two men were found dead in the storage room of an Irondale car dealership.
There was no obvious sign of foul play, said Irondale police Sgt. Michael Mangina. The bodies have been taken to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office for autopsy.
The discovery was made shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at EchoPark Automotive on Tom Williams Way. Mangina said Irondale police received a 911 call of two people found unresponsive and not breathing in an upstairs storage room. Both were pronounced dead on the scene.

Sonic Automotive has opened its newest EchoPark specialty pre-owned vehicle store in Birmingham, Ala.
The 27,000-square-foot facility is the company’s 22nd location to date and its first in Alabama.
David Smith, chief executive officer of Sonic Automotive and EchoPark Automotive, said Birmingham has long been a strong market for Sonic’s new-vehicle business.
