Lehigh County next week will be home to a pop-up testing site for COVID-19, like the one that ran Dec. 2-6 in Northampton County.
Included in this latest round of free drive-through and indoor walk-in testing clinics is Coca-Cola Park, 1050 IronPigs Way in Allentown. Testing will be available on a first-come-first-served basis 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, through Friday, Jan. 8.
State officials praised the Northampton County site, in the William Penn Highway Park and Ride Lot in Bethlehem Township, as an example to be followed for the so-called strike team testing sites. That’s because the state’s contractor, AMI Expeditionary Healthcare, exceeded its 450-patient daily capacity on the first day and average 430 patients a day over its five-day run.
