WARNER ROBINS, Ga. A Houston County teacher found herself face to face with a black bear in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
She s fine, but the same can t be said for her car.
Mary Jane Yarbrough teaches art at Warner Robins High School.
To get a head start on a project for her students next year, she s taking an art class in Gatlinburg.

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. It s high school graduation season, and families across Central Georgia are gearing up for celebrations. As more Americans get vaccinated and the CDC updates its guidelines for safe gatherings, some districts are allowing more graduation guests including Houston County.

MACON, Ga. Graduate nurse Gabriella Taunton-Carcamo came a long way to Central Georgia so she could become a nurse. I moved to the United States back in 2013 beginning of the year, from Honduras and I pretty much just wanted to have a better chance at life, Carcamo said.
At 17-years-old, she left her mom in Honduras as a high school junior to move in with her dad and step-mom in Warner Robins, and it didn t start off easy.

MACON, Ga. Every year, high school seniors excelling both in the classroom and in their communities are nominated for state recognition as a Georgia Scholar. This year, Four Rutland High School seniors are on that list.
Seniors Piper Riser, Monique Christian, Jenny Pyon, and Julianna Sales are reflecting on the hard work they put into their academics over the last four years to earn the distinction. I ve always tried to do my absolute best with schoolwork regardless of the class it was and if I enjoyed it or not. Even in the beginning, I ve had a 4.0 and in the end I had that still, said Riser.
