The South African Revenue Service (Sars) has seized rhino horn worth an estimated R50 million at OR Tambo International Airport.

In a statement, the revenue collector said the horns were discovered in a shipment destined for Malaysia.
The shipment was taken for x-ray scanning and the image analysis reflected objects shaped like rhino horn.
The shipment was taken for physical inspection, and upon inspection of the boxes, 18 pieces of rhino horn were found concealed in traditional clothing. The goods weighed 63kg,” SARS said in a statement.
