at Once Norway s LitFestBergen February 11, 2021 One afternoon back in September, when I was lockdown-weary and stir-crazy, an unexpected opportunity to be part of a Great Literary Escape showed up in my inbox. “I’m writing to invite you to a collaboration involving 12 literary festivals/scenes/houses around the world,” read the email from Teresa Grøtan, a name new to me. What a lucky day. Norway’s LitFestBergen, directed by Teresa and produced out of the Bergen House of Literature, was organizing a hugely ambitious international collaboration called Literature Live Around the World, involving 12 global lit fests. Edinburgh book festival moves venue as it hopes for in-person events

The Edinburgh International Book Festival is to move to a new venue this year as it adapts to operating in a pandemic. The festival will take place in the indoor and outdoor spaces of the Edinburgh College of Art on Lauriston Place from August 14 to 30. Organisers are planning a range of live online author talks, workshops and readings, and, if circumstances permit, some events for in-person, socially-distanced audiences. The festival is moving from the usual venue in Charlotte Square as organisers say they do not know how many tickets they will sell for in-person events and therefore cannot justify the costs of tents and other infrastructure they normally put in place.

Kendi, intended for a variety of age groups. Stamped From the Beginning will be a cross between a documentary and a scripted feature film, while Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You will be similarly produced but for teens and young adult readers. Antiracist Baby, currently a board book, will be reimagined as animated shorts for the pre-school set. Doc McStuffins creator Chris Nee has been tapped to executive produce the series.
