First vaccines delivered at new mass vaccination site at Queen Margaret University

A RETIRED home help was among the first people in the Lothians to receive a Covid-19 vaccine at the new drive-through mass vaccination centre at Queen Margaret University (QMU) in Musselburgh which opened today (Wednesday). The snow brought by Storm Darcy that has battered the county, dubbed ‘Beast from the East 2’, did not stop the centre opening this morning as planned. Mary Foster, from Musselburgh, was one of the first to receive a life-saving vaccine. She said: “I think this is great, I’m really excited and I think people who don’t want to be vaccinated should think again.”

Snow in East Lothian: Disruption across the county - here is the latest

THE snowy weather has caused significant disruption in East Lothian once again with bin collections and bus services already suspended. As a result Police Scotland has issued a travel warning, asking that people only travel if it is essential as there is a high risk of disruption. East Lothian Council has also asked people to stay home if possible with its gritters ploughing and treating primary routes since yesterday evening (Monday). Here is the latest on the disruption and what has been affected. Waste All waste and recycling collection services are currently on hold and not being carried out and all recycling centres in East Lothian are closed.
