Sign Up A partnership between Robert Gordon University (RGU) and a company specialising in chlorine dioxide has scooped one of the top gongs in the sixth Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards (SKEAs). The Aberdeen-based university teamed up with Scotmas Group to develop a new and innovative method of producing disinfectants without harmful by-products for use in hospitals, water supplies and food production applications.

NMITE signs MOU with Edinburgh Napier University - Timber Trades Journal Online

The New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Edinburgh Napier University (ENU). The news came as it announced that Professor Robert Hairstans has joined as founding director of the NMITE’s Centre for Advanced Timber Technology (CATT) (ttjonline March 11). His role will be to lead the development and delivery of the CATT, to help establish it as the leading national location in timber education and to work with the broader NMITE academic team to create a sustainable educational portfolio.  Prof Hairstans joins on a two-year secondment from Edinburgh Napier University (ENU), where he is head of the Centre for Offsite Construction + Innovative Structures (COCIS) within the University s Institute for Sustainable Construction.

VENTILATION in pubs and restaurants must be improved to prevent another spike in coronavirus following the reopening of outdoor hospitality in England, doctors have warned. The British Medical Association (BMA) said the Government has clearly conveyed the “hands, face, space” message, but more needs to be done to guard against airborne transmission of the virus. Pubs, bars and restaurants, workplaces and other public settings should be given ventilation guidance as they welcome the public indoors again, the BMA added. Scientists previously criticised the Government over its August 2020 cut price meal scheme, Eat Out to Help Out, which was linked to a rise in cases in the autumn when customers returned to restaurants in huge numbers.
