The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted almost every part of work and public life, with the education sector hit particularly hard. Universities were forced to change their ways overnight and students were unable to attend lectures in person.
But some were able to reduce the sudden impact of coronavirus lockdowns through investments made in the latest technologies over the last few years.
Edinburgh Napier University, for example, benefited from its existing investments in virtual desktop technology when Covid-19 restrictions forced it to close its doors. Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, students have had 24-hour secure access to all the resources they need for their studies since early in the pandemic

A virtual public briefing on the expansion of the School Streets scheme raised hundreds of questions from concerned residents.

Redbridge Council has tried to address the concerns of residents about how the expansion of the School Streets scheme would work.
An online meeting on Wednesday, February 10, heard the objectives of the scheme are to reduce air pollution levels around 10 additional schools, help protect children from traffic at the school gate and encourage more children to walk and cycle to school.
Once launched, vehicles will be restricted from entering the designated zones at the schools start and finish times during term time only, or they will be receive a £130 fine.
The Fay Jones School convened representatives from 22 universities and programs in December to share current work in timber- and wood-based design education and research.
