Whanganui comedian Kajun Campbell Brooking has taken out this year s Raw Comedy Quest Central North Island competition. Brooking made his comedy debut in the same competition last year, and he said nerves weren t so much of an issue this time around. I was just looking around watching everyone else sh t their pants instead, it was good, Brooking said.

The Philippines has taken the gloves off in its dispute with Beijing over the South China Sea, with its top diplomat dropping the F-bomb as he demanded the withdrawal of Chinese vessels near the Scarborough Shoal.
Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jnr took to Twitter, calling China an ugly oaf and demanding it get the f out of Philippine maritime waters. His colourful language followed reports that Chinese coastguard ships had harassed their Philippine counterparts in the vicinity of the shoal, which is claimed by both countries.

Drivers have taken their vehicles off-road and on to the Sala St Reserve, damaging a public space that is meant for all to enjoy.
A local resident who walks his dog in the reserve, and wished to remain anonymous, told the Rotorua Daily Post the grass there had been ripped up by vehicles on multiple occasions.
A Rotorua Lakes Council spokeswoman said this type of damage occurred occasionally in places where there were reserves with unrestricted access.

A Wellington taxi company has been taken to court over accusations of price fixing.
The Commerce Commission today confirmed it has filed proceedings in the High Court at Wellington against Hutt and City Taxis Limited.
The Commission alleges Hutt & City breached the Commerce Act by reaching a price-fixing agreement with two competing taxi companies to implement a minimum charge of $25 for pickup taxi trips from the on-demand taxi rank at Wellington Airport.
