Over the course of reading two books, I got some important tips and reminders about taking risks, creating success, and being cognizant of those women following in our career footsteps.
In “Unapologetically Ambitious: Take Risks, Break Barriers, and Create Success on Your Own Terms” by Shellye Archambeau, women get the nudge even friendly shove they need to build their network, work on their personal brand, ditch forever the idea that work-life balance is achievable, and focus on the career attainment they want without apologizing for it.
What resonates with me is the trusting in your own plan that Archambeau advocates, regardless of what path other people think is more suitable for you personally or for that time period in your life. From family-planning and financial decision-making to deciding how to spend your free time, Archambeau places them all on the trajectory toward gaining the success you want.

A new study demonstrates that robots can motivate humans to take bigger risks in a simulated gambling scenario than they would if there was nothing to impact their actions.

Improving the understanding of whether robots can influence risk-taking could have distinct practical, ethical and policy implications, which this study aimed to explore.
We know that peer pressure can lead to higher risk-taking behaviour. With the ever-increasing scale of interaction between humans and technology, both online and physically, it is crucial that we understand more about whether machines can have a similar impact.

Teresa Carlson-Amazon Web Services, VP, Worldwide Public Sector There s enough stress already, said Carlson, referring to the COVID-19 pandemic. Allow your team some time to decompress, remind them they don t always need to be in the work zone. We are trying to be flexible and make sure we re taking care of our employees, and customers, every day. If you re on a video conference and your cat walks across the table or your children want to sit on your lap-fine. Let them come in. We have to operate with grace.
