Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], February 25 (ANI): In pursuit of the Odisha government s 5T (Teamwork, Technology, Transparency, Time leading to Transformation) mantra, a slew of initiatives of the state Women and Child Development and Mission Shakti Department were launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday, an official statement issued by the department said.
The initiatives launched today are Mo-Chhatua App for streamlining supply chain management of Take Home Ration (Chhatua); e-Kalika, an application for monitoring creches for children under three; Mo Sishu portal , comprehensive web-based information management and monitoring system exclusively for child protection services; MAMATA App & MIS , making the flagship conditional cash transfer benefit scheme for pregnant women hassle-free, paperless and citizen centr

Since March 2020, all Anganwadi Centers have been closed due to the outbreak of the Corona virus. It was not possible to visit breastfeeding mothers at such a time. But it was important to keep them informed about breastfeeding. So I contacted them through their mobile phones, which is the only available and appropriate resource in such a crisis. I learned about their all the difficulties with breastfeeding and guided them, and sent messages to some of them over the phone. Slowly other family members are also getting involved in the process.
Another approach we used is the WhatsApp video call. I observed the mother while breastfeeding through video calls and tried to alleviate the problems of breastfeeding. Now even on the day of vaccination, I am informing mothers about the importance breastfeeding.

BHOPAL: Four months after the supply of substandard rice under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) in Balaghat and Mandla district jolted Madhya Pradesh, fresh discrepancies were detected under the Take Home Ration (THR) scheme for out of school adolescent girls in the state.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has written to the Director General of the Economic Offence Wing of MP to register a case following the detection of over Rs 4.26 crore worth financial irregularities/discrepancies in THR for such girls in four districts of the state.

The multi-pronged programme will improve the nutritional quality of Take-Home Ration served to children, pregnant and lactating mothers
To help combat malnutrition in Rajasthan, Cargil Inc in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and Delhi-based Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) has launched a multi-pronged nutrition programme.
The programme, launched in Jaipur recently, aims to address nutrition intake in the first 1,000 days of a child s life starting at conception through two years after birth.

Renamed as pre-schools, the centres to be opened on February 1
Women Development and Child Welfare (WD&CW) Director Kritika Shukla has directed officials and staff of the department to visit the anganwadi centres, which are being opened from February 1, and take up sanitation drive on the school premises.
Now, known as pre-schools, the centres were closed for the last ten months due to COVID-19, and the government gave instructions to reopen them from February 1. In the wake of an incident in an anganwadi centre in West Godavari district where a snake was sighted, alert was sounded in the State, the Director said.
