Attorneys representing one of the Wagner family members accused in the murders of eight members of the Rhoden family in Pike County in 2016 are asking for extra time in the case. Lawyers for George Wagner IV appeared with Wagner yesterday in a Waverly courtroom, asking the judge for an extra 30 days in order to analyze recent events in case. Last Wednesday Edward Jake Wagner pled guilty to 23 charges of murder in exchange for removing the death penalty specification of the sentencing process. George Wagner is charged with eight counts of murder for his alleged role in the killings. The court set June 21st as the next hearing date for George Wagner IV.

In a stunning and last-minute development that shocked a packed courtroom, Wagner pleaded guilty Thursday to 23 charges, including eight counts of aggravated murder. He has been cooperating with investigators and has agreed to testify against his parents and older brother, who also are charged in the killings.
WAVERLY - Attorneys of George Wagner IV, one of those accused of the murder of eight members of the Rhoden family five years ago, asked the Pike County Court of Common Pleas for 30 days to step back and reassess, in light of recent events.
Wagner, who appeared in court Wednesday, is charged with eight counts of murder for his alleged involvement in the murders, among 22 felony counts.
The court set his next hearing for June 21.
Wednesday s court appearance came six days after Wagner s brother, Edward Jake Wagner stood in front of the same judge and pleaded guilty to 23 charges including eight counts of murder.
