Today host Allison Langdon has come out swinging against the Federal Government for allowing controversial British commentator Katie Hopkins into the country.
Hopkins, 46, who recently flew to Sydney on a critical skills visa ahead of her appearance on Channel Seven s Celebrity Big Brother, had her visa revoked on Monday after she posted a video on Instagram claiming she planned to deliberately flout restrictions while staying in hotel quarantine.
Hopkins had been allowed into the country above the quarantine cap with the support of the NSW State Government, on the basis that she would provide some sort of economic benefit to the country.
On Monday Andrews said Hopkinsâ behaviour was âshamefulâ, describing it as âa slap in the face for all those Australians who are currently in lockdownâ.
âThe fact that she was out there boasting about breaching quarantine was appalling,â she told ABC News Breakfast.
Andrews confirmed that Australian Border Force had now cancelled her visa, saying it had âacted quicklyâ to do so.
âWe will be getting her out of the country as soon as we can possibly arrange that. So Iâm hopeful that it will happen imminently.â
Andrews sought to shift the blame for Hopkinsâ entry to Australia, explaining that although issuing visas is a federal responsibility âshe actually came into the country with support of a state governmentâ.

Her flight to Australia created outrage after the government last week halved the number of Australian citizens and permanent residents allowed to return home each week to 3,000 to try to reduce the risk of covid-19 leaking from hotel quarantine. More than 34,000 Australians who want to come home remain stranded overseas.
