Technology that could reduce drink-driving has evolved faster than the willingness among political and auto industry leaders to put it to use, US safety advocates say.
Charleston City Councilman Harry Griffin refused a field sobriety and breathalyzer test when he was arrested for DUI in Berkeley County over the Memorial Day weekend. HONOLULU (AP) Hawaii recorded 36 traffic fatalities this year, five more than at the same time last year. Fourteen involved motor vehicle occupants, eight involved pedestrians, 13 involved motorcycles and scooters, and one involved a bicyclist.
