DICT notes increase in tower roll-outs; continues to push for telcos to improve services

QUEZON CITY, Jan. 22 (PIA) - The positive response to the Joint Memorandum circular issued, and  President Rodrigo Roa Duterte s directive  in easing up the processing requirement for the permits have resulted in an increase in the tower roll-out of telcos, said Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)  Undersecretary Emmanuel Rey Caintic in a virtual press briefing, Thursday, January 21. He said these imply increased in the extent of coverage of the mobile operators in providing internet services. More towers mean better internet signal because internet access is dependent on the scope of the prevalence of the towers, he added. LGUs told: Set up ‘e-biz one-stop shop’ before June 17 Share on email The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) reminded on Friday, Jan. 8, local government units (LGUs) to automate their transactions before June 17, 2021, by putting up an electronic Business One-Stop Shop or e-BOSS. ARTA director general Jeremiah Belgica led the on-the-spot inspections in Metro Manila that started this week to check the compliance of LGUs to the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) and Efficient Delivery of Government Service Act, with provision directing government offices to set up their own BOSS. BOSS is a single-window system that streamlines application forms and submission of documents in government offices in one window only.

ARTA inspecting LGUs business one-stop shops

Published January 8, 2021, 12:09 PM The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) has started inspecting local government units (LGUs) to see if they are fully implementing their Business One-Stop Shops (BOSS) for this year’s business registration and business license renewals. According to ARTA, the inspection, which started Thursday, aims to monitor the LGUs’ compliance with the provisions of the Ease of Doing Business (EODB) Law in relation to business permit application and renewal.  The inspection, which was aired live over Facebook, was led by ARTA Director General Jeremihan Belgica in coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). They inspected Quezon City and Pasig City Thursday and checked Manila Friday.
