LAHORE: The Punjab government has abolished two anti-terrorism courts.
According to details, The Additional Secretary Home Department has issued a notification to abolish two Anti-Terrorism Courts, including Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi and Anti-Terrorism Court Sargodha. “The governor of Punjab is pleased to de-notify the following anti-terrorism courts in Punjab with immediate effect,” says the notification. The employees and resources of the de-notified ATCs shall be placed at the disposal of the Home Department for their adjustments.

Supreme Court directed lower court to pronounce judgment within a month
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Karachi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has fixed February 8 for final arguments in the murder case of Orangi Pilot Project Director Parveen Rehman.
The murder case of Parveen Rehman was heard in the anti-terrorism court of Karachi. The accused Amjad Hussain, Ayaz, Rahim Swati and others were produced in the court.
During the hearing, the court fixed February 8 for the final arguments in the case. Plaintiff s counsel took the position that he had not received a copy from the Supreme Court regarding the disposal of the case within a month. The Supreme Court had recently directed the lower court to pronounce judgment in the case within a month.

The ruling, issued by a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Mushir Alam, has shocked not only the family of the murdered journalist Daniel Pearl but also the whole media community. The court did not furnish a clear justification for the ruling, saying only that the reasons would be “recorded later”.
