Protest in Delta community over 7 years of power outage

Share Tired of power outage for the past seven years, hundreds of residents of Mosogar in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State on Monday staged a protest calling on relevant authorities to address the situation ahead of Christmas. The protesters comprising youths of both sexes and older folks stormed the Mosogar junction of the ever-busy Benin-Warri expressway causing gridlock for several hours. Armed with placards with messages expressing their grievances, the protesters said efforts to redress the seven-year-old power outage had hit the rocks. They accused the distribution company, Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) of incompetence and called for the withdrawal of the company’s licence.

Senate Endorses Restoration Of Abraka Constituency In Delta

Senate has approved the immediate restoration of Abraka State Constituency in Ethiope East Local Government Area from the present Ethiope East State Constituency, in line with the decision, declarations and orders of the Federal High Court to separate the two constituencies. The Senate, which directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to comply with the resolution ahead of the next general elections and election of members of the next Delta State House of Assembly, also sought the concurrence of the House of Representatives to its resolution. The upper chamber notes that the Abraka State Constituency consists of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s present Abraka Wards 1, 2, 3 while the remaining part of the present Ethiope East State Constituency consists of INEC’s Ward 4 (Okpara Inland), Ward 5 (Ovu), Ward 6 (Kokori Inland), Ward 7 (Orhuoakpor), Ward 8 (Okpara Waterside), Ward 9 (Eku), Ward 10 (Egba/Samagidi) and Ward 11 (Isiokoro).

Breaking News | Nigerians told to show compassion for physically challenged persons

By Festus Ahon A foremost Rotarian in Delta State, Mr Joe Erharhaghen has called on Nigerians to be kind and compassionate to the physically challenged in persons the society. Erhrarhaghen made the call when he led the physically challenged in Kokori community, Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state to a thanksgiving service, noting that there was no limit to what people with disabilities could achieve if given the needed love and support. The Rotarian who also organised a lecture/reception for the people said he was inspired by his Rotary dictates and the teachings of Christ to always care for the less privilege in the society, adding that no matter how much wealth a man possesses if he fails to help those in need his wealth was worthless.
