Yet-to-be-identified assailants suspected to be cultists have reportedly axed a male student of the Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area, to death.
The incident was said to have happened on Saturday evening on campus.
Details of the identity of the deceased and the killing were still scanty as of the time of filing the report but there were speculations that the killing could be cult-related.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the incident on Sunday evening, said: “It is true. The report is that the girl (girlfriend of deceased) said she and her boyfriend went to settle scores with one lecturer somewhere and as they were coming out of the place, about four people dragged the boyfriend into the bush.

Four suspected motorcycle snatchers terrorising Birnin Kebbi and Jega Local Government Areas have been arrested by the Kebbi State Police Command.
Nafi’u Abubakar, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) told NAN that it received information that a specialised gang of motorcycle thieves had entered into Koko town on Jan 10th.
He said the police trailed and arrested four suspected motorcycle snatchers.
The suspects were indentifed as Usman Sani, 27, and Bashir Usman, 27, Tukur Muhammad, 26, and Yahaya Kabiru, 28.
Abubakar added that the suspects confessed to have been responsible for motorcycle snatching in Birnin Kebbi and Jega Local Government Areas.

The Police in Oghara Divisional Headquarters, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State have arrested a man simply identified as Happy for allegedly killing and burying his girlfriend at the Unoghovo bush in Oghara.
The suspect, who took the police to the spot where he buried his lover, is yet to give reasons why he killed her.
DAILY POST reports that the police are not taking the matter lightly following the increasing activities of suspected ritualists who also pose as internet fraudsters in the community.
It was learnt that the deceased, Orhie Everusi was declared missing five days ago. She was last seen when she left the house to see a friend. Family members and friends searched but couldn’t find her as her mobile phone was switched off.
