Addis Abeba, May 6, 2021 – The joint intelligence and security task force comprised of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), the Federal Police Commission, and Information Network Security Agency (INSA) announced that it has foiled underground cells allegedly plotting to disrupt the 6th general election.

Addis Abeba, May 03/2021 – Colonel Getnet Adane of the Public Relations Directorate at the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) said that ENDF was finalizing preparations to press charges against self-proclaimed controversial evangelical “Prophet” Ayu Chufa, who recently released a video of him performing miracle prayers to members of the ENDF.
Colonel Getnet accused “Prophet” Ayu of disseminating the video which is disrespectful of the members of ENDF who appeared in the video wearing their uniforms. News: Joint security, intelligence task force warns “internal and external forces working to bring national chaos” addisstandard 2021-04-24
Addis Abeba, April 24/2021 – The joint intelligence and security task force comprised of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF), the Federal Police Commission, and Information Network Security Agency (INSA) warned that it would no longer tolerate “forces inside and outside the country” who are working to create “national chaos”, “public rage” and are “threatening the country’s existence.”
In a statement the task force released last night, it said that there are “verified” and “ample evidences” that forces inside and outside the country have joined hands to create chaos and distabilize the country while the government is working to solve problems related with identity and boundaries issues “scientifically and impartially.”
The U.N. humanitarian chief warned Thursday that the grave humanitarian crisis in Ethiopia’s embattled Tigray region is deteriorating, with no sign of Eritrean troops withdrawing and alarmingly widespread reports of systematic rape and other sexual violence mainly by men in uniform.
Mark Lowcock told a closed Security Council meeting that the U.N. knows that 4.5 million of Tigray’s nearly 6 million people need humanitarian aid and the government estimates 91% of the population needs emergency food.
He said his office received the first report earlier this week of four displaced people dying from hunger, and Thursday morning he received reports of 150 people in the Ofla district just south of Tigray’s capital Mekelle dying from hunger.
