ADDIS ABABA, April 17 (Xinhua) The Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, Africa s busiest airport and the continent s leading gateway, is aspiring to revive its COVID-19-affected passenger traffic with a newly launched Chinese operated state-of-the-art COVID-19 testing lab.
The newly launched high-end COVID-19 testing lab, Huo Yan Air Lab, which is inside the premises of Ethiopia s international flight hub, is administered by the BGI Health Ethiopia, a subsidiary of China s biotech giant, the BGI Genomics Co., Ltd.
The Ethiopian flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, expects the lab, equipped with cutting-edge technologies, to inject the much-needed momentum in terms of easing the pressure through the provision of timely and accurate COVID-19 testing.
Poor adherence: those who missed their ART dose more than 10% per month.
Fair adherence: those who missed 5–10% of their ART doses.
Good adherence: those who missed less than 5% of their ART doses.
Mother-to-mother (M2M) support program: a peer support program which employs HIV-positive mothers to provide support and advice to HIV-positive pregnant women and mothers of HIV-exposed babies.
Option B+: the program that utilizes initiating triple ARV drugs for all pregnant HIV positive mothers and continues throughout their life.
ARV prophylaxis: the administration of ARV drugs to a newborn without documented HIV infection to reduce the risk of HIV acquisition.

The African Union (AU) has announced the launch of a partnership to manufacture vaccines at five research centres to be built on the continent in the coming 15 years. The continent seeks to be able to manufacture 60 percent of its vaccines by 2040.
The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and the African Union Commission Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding to boost African vaccine research and development as well as manufacturing.
