Residents of the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa say they hope Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed s government can ensure peace and economic stability after the incumbent s party won a landslide victory.
The election result grants Abiy a five-year term despite a brutal war raging in the country s northern region of Tigray.
Abiy hailed the outcome of what he described as a historic election the first time he faced voters since being appointed prime minister in 2018 following several years of anti-government protests.
