Ethiopia has announced that military troops from neighboring Eritrea have “started to evacuate” the conflict-hit Tigray region situated between the two African states.
Ethiopia s Foreign Ministry made the announcement on Saturday, one day after the Group of Seven (G7) countries called for the speedy withdrawal of the Eritrean forces fighting on the side of Ethiopian forces in a war against the Tigray People s Liberation Front (TPLF) in northern Ethiopia.

Ethiopia s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Dina Mufti, reaffirmed his country s willingness to resume the Renaissance Dam negotiations with Sudan and Egypt at any time under the auspices of the African Union (AU) only.
On Tuesday,
Al-Jazeera TV reported Mufti as saying that Ethiopia had not received any official proposal from the quartet.
The statements came in response to Khartoum s official request for a quadripartite mediation to resolve the dispute over the filling and operating of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
NAIROBI: Ethiopia has rejected US allegations there has been ethnic cleansing in Tigray, pushing back against the latest criticism of its military operation in its northern region by the new administration in Washington.
