Photo by: Courtesy photo/Monroe County Sheriff Kevin Crook The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has acquired an armored vehicle through the Law Enforcement Support Office Program (also known as the 1033 Program), which helps transfer excess military equipment to state agencies. Meanwhile, the Lowndes County Sheriff Office also may have its eyes set on a carrier of its own. About three weeks ago, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) carrier was brought to the Monroe County to be used for search and rescue efforts after floods and storms, provide cover for the SWAT team in situations where suspects have barricaded themselves and potential hostage or active shooter situations.

Biden: US Mission in Afghanistan to End August 31

Biden: US Mission in Afghanistan to End August 31 Voice of America 09 Jul 2021, 05:05 GMT+10 U.S. President Joe Biden says the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan will end on August 31. Biden s remarks at the White House Thursday came after he and Vice President Kamala Harris met with national security leaders for an update on the pullout. On Tuesday, the U.S. military announced the withdrawal process was more than 90% complete. Officials have said the entire process is expected to finish by late August. NATO troops also are following suit, and most of them already have left the country. White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Wednesday the United States supports diplomatic negotiations to resolve the conflict in Afghanistan, and that after the military withdrawal it intends to have diplomatic and humanitarian presences in the country.

The Second Amendment s Right To Bear Arms: What It Means

- The Second Amendment to the US Constitution You can largely determine where a person will fall in the debate over gun control and the Second Amendment based on their view of government and the role it should play in our lives. In the  first group are those who see the government as a Nanny State, empowered to look out for the best interests of the populace, even when that means overriding our rights as individuals and free will. These individuals tend to interpret the Second Amendment to mean that only members of law enforcement and the military are entitled to own a gun. Case in point: President Biden recently (and wrongly) asserted that “the Second Amendment, from the day it was passed, limited the type of people who could own a gun and what type of weapon you could own. You couldn’t buy a cannon.”
