The Health 202: The Biden administration is waving money at a dozen states to expand Medicaid

Central Texas Interfaith targets Bastrop County for health initiatives

A second grant from Houston-based Episcopal Health Foundation is aiming to address health issues in Bastrop County. On Feb. 4, Central Texas Interfaith announced it received a $300,000 grant from the foundation to build sustainable organizing clusters in Bastrop, Brazos, McLennan and Williamson counties as well as in western Travis County. The grant and organizing clusters will help CTI a non-partisan, multi-issue coalition of 50 congregations, labor organizations, nonprofits and schools continue to expand into a 10-county Central Texas region with a focus on health and well-being issues. “This grant invests in the development of ordinary leaders in working class and marginalized communities across the region to secure their family’s health and well-being,” said Doug Greco, the lead organizer of CTI. “It doubles down on CTI’s organizing work in building non-partisan constituencies in legislative districts across the 10-county area.”

And so I really I feel like it’s almost a waste of my time,” the San Antonio man told KSAT. Instead, Laurence’s version of health insurance amounts to drinking tea and taking tablets to boost his immune system in the hope that he’ll stay healthy. If he does, that’s a trip to the doctor that’s coming out of his pocket only.

5 Things Texas: 2021 Economic outlook, Vaccine rollout, Access to care - State of Reform

5 Things Texas: 2021 Economic outlook, Vaccine rollout, Access to care DJ Wilson | Feb 1, 2021 Share this: When we build our agendas for our annual conferences, we wait until as late as possible to get started. Then, we ask our Convening Panel, sponsors and readers this question: What are you spending your mental energy on? We then ask our network to tell us who has the best story to tell about the topics we heard about. This makes our agenda as practical and as actionable as possible. So, with our 2021 Texas State of Reform Virtual Health Policy Conference coming up later this week, it’s no surprise that the topics we’re watching this month in Texas health care are also topics teed up on our agenda on Thursday, as you’ll see below.
