Glenn Lazard and Pat Lewis voted in favor of the ordinance, which was rejected by a 3-2 vote. The council received more than 3,000 calls regarding the proposed mandate, with 999 of those calls in favor of the ordinance. We reached out to the three council members who voted against the ordinance, but did not receive a response.

An act of bravery Episcopal School of Acadiana athlete helped on the COVID-19 front lines Danielle Allentuck, Lafayette Daily Advertiser Last summer, after her 5:45 a.m. high school cross country practice, Aline Malek drove to Allie and Patola Medical Center. There, she would suit up in full personal protection equipment  a gown, gloves, n-95 mask and face shield. Then, Malek would get to work volunteering at a free COVID-19 testing site.  It didn t matter if it was 100 degrees outside or pouring ran. Malek was there no matter what, determined to do her part to help in the battle against the deadly virus.
