Starting today, McDonald s Singapore is sparking children s curiosity and stimulating their imagination by launching a new exclusive 12-book series as part of the Happy Meal Readers Programme that is available at all restaurants and through McDelivery.
Titled The Tiny Detectives, it marks the third year of collaboration between the fast-food chain and Cressida Cowell, author of the best-selling How To Train Your Dragon series.

What s your favorite DreamWorks movie?
For over 20 years, DreamWorks has been creating amazing animated films. In fact, if you were born in the mid to late 1990s, they likely had a huge impact on your childhood. DreamWorks Pictures first film was Antz, released in 1998. There was quite a bit of controversy surrounding this film, as it aired the same year as Disney s A Bug s Life. Following Antz, DreamWorks released a number of well-received films in the following years, including The Prince of Egypt in 1998, The Road to El Dorado in 2000 and Chicken Run in 2000. Then, in 2001, they made it big with the release of Shrek. Shrek put DreamWorks on the map in a big way and led to a wildly successful franchise (with a fifth film currently in the works).
Children’s Laureate Cressida Cowell has warned of “vast inequality” in the provision of primary school libraries, and said the gap in educational achievement and opportunity “remains stark, worrying and urgent” as she called for Boris Johnson to ring-fence a yearly investment of £100 million.
The author, known for books including the How To Train Your Dragon series, has written an open letter signed by former Laureates including Michael Rosen and Sir Quentin Blake, saying: “It is heart-breaking to see just how unevenly this fundamental opportunity is distributed.”
The letter said the lack of access to libraries means millions of children – particularly those from the poorest communities worst-hit by the pandemic and whose parents cannot afford books at home – are missing out on the opportunity to become a reader for pleasure.
