Viola Davis to receive AAFCA Icon award in April ANI | Updated: Mar 13, 2021 21:46 IST
Washington DC [US], March 13 (ANI): Oscar-winning actor Viola Davis is all set to receive the icon award at the 12th annual African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) Awards on April 7 this year.
Davis, who is an American actor and producer, has won an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and two Tony Awards in her career till now. She is the first African-American to achieve the prestigious Triple Crown of Acting following which Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2012 and 2017.
A DIGITAL production of The Picture of Dorian Gray is gearing up with national treasures and the UK’s best actors creating the story with top Welsh talent. Produced by five UK arts organisations, including Flintshire’s Theatr Clwyd, the cast includes Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk), Alfred Enoch (How To Get Away With Murder), Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Emma McDonald, Russell Tovey (Him & Her, The Night Manager) and Stephen Fry (QI, A Bit of Fry & Laurie). Behind the camera is a glittering array of Welsh and Wales-based talent, including Theatr Clwyd’s artistic director Tamara Harvey directing, Llangollen’s Eleri B Jones assistant directing, with original songs by Northop-based composer Jared Zeus. The production is managed by Prestatyn’s Sami Wood and filmed at The Barn Theatre, led by Carmarthenshire’s Iwan Lewis.
