RESIDENTS who say their homes are being battered by a “tidal wave” of floodwater are calling for action. Homeowners in Duck End, Finchingfield, have been locked in a two-year battle with Essex Highways over the problem, which is thought to be caused by blocked drains. They say the road outside their homes is constantly under water but no action has been taken by Highways despite multiple complaints. It is understood at least ten residents in the area have raised concerns with Essex County Council. Among them is Henrietta Edwards who has even attempted to create a makeshift gully in an effort to clear the water from the road.
